Five Easy Recipes to Try During Quarantine

In quarantine, we spend most of our time working, exercising, catching up on our favorite Netflix series, and, of course, EATING. Are you experiencing monotony in the kitchen? These five simple recipes are the best way to change what you snack on. 

Oreo Truffles

This easy recipe takes the cookie sandwich you know and love, the Oreo, and transforms it into a delicious treat. Want to customize this recipe? Experiment with different Oreo flavors!

Ingredients

8 Oreos 

2 ounces of cream cheese 

½ cup white chocolate chips 

Instructions

  1. Crush or blend your Oreos until they form a fine powder (include the filling).
  2. Transfer Oreos to a bowl and set aside a spoonful of Oreo powder. Combine the remaining oreo sand with two ounces of cream cheese. 
  3. Roll into smooth balls (truffles) and chill for ten minutes. 
  4. Melt your chocolate in a small bowl while the truffles chill. 
  5. Cover your truffles in white chocolate. Sprinkle them with the Oreo powder you saved.
  6. Chill for ten minutes or until the chocolate hardens.
  7. Enjoy!

 

Cheesy Pigs in Blanket

These cheesy pigs in a blanket are yummier than regular pigs in a blanket. Want to customize this recipe? Experiment with a variety of cheeses. Note: if you are out of puff pastry, substitute them with crescent roll dough!

Ingredients

2 hot dogs

1 sheet of puff pastry 

2 slices of cheddar cheese 

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425 ℉.
  2. Cut the puff pastry in half (it should be slightly larger than your slice of cheese).
  3. Place each slice of cheese on a puff pastry.
  4. Wrap a hot dog in puff pastry and cheese. Cut it into thirds and repeat this step for the second hot dog.
  5. Space “pigs” evenly on a baking sheet. 
  6. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Enjoy! 

 

Sorbet

Ingredients 

1 cup of frozen fruit

1 tbsp of honey

Instructions

  1. Place fruit and honey in a blender or food processor. 
  2. Blend until smooth. 
  3. Transfer mixture to your desired container. 
  4. Freeze and enjoy!

 

Cheesecake

This no-bake cheesecake is perfect for your sugar cravings! Want to customize this recipe? Try experimenting with different crusts and toppings.

Ingredients 

2 graham crackers

1 tbsp of butter

4 oz of cream cheese

1 tbsp of powdered sugar 

Instructions 

  1. Crush up the graham crackers until they make a fine powder. Set aside.
  2. Melt butter in a small dish (this is where you will make the cheesecake).
  3. Swirl the butter in the dish so the sides are coated in butter. 
  4. Add graham crackers to the residual butter in the dish. Combine to make a wet powder for the crust. Pack down at the bottom of your dish. Set this aside. 
  5. Combine the cream cheese and powdered sugar. Add mixture to the dish.
  6. Chill for 30 minutes or until your cheesecake is firm.
  7. Enjoy!

 

Chocolate Covered Potato Chips

Ingredients

12 whole potato chips

¾ cup chocolate

Instructions 

  1. Melt the chocolate. 
  2. Dip chips into chocolate. Set aside on parchment paper. 
  3. Chill or leave out to cool.
  4. Enjoy!
