As a whole, the 53rd Super Bowl left something to be desired. While the game was uneventful as the lowest scoring Superbowl of all time, with an especially lackluster first half lacking in much coordinated offensive play, the half-time show wasn’t outstanding either.

The performances by Maroon 5, Travis Scott and Big Boi were fine, if not a little bland – but ultimately uninspiring. More importantly, they were overshadowed by the enormous expectations of “Sweet Victory”, a song featured on Spongebob Squarepants in the revered episode “Band Geeks” from  2001. In a manner fitting the overall tone of the rest of the night, fans were left disappointed as “Sweet Victory” was teased, but quickly replaced by “Sicko Mode.” Oddly enough, as if to compensate for the show, many high profile rappers made appearances in ads.
