A Timeline of Administrative and Student Leader Response to Concerns about the Inter-dorming Policy provided by Daniel Pai ’19 and Caitlin Reilly ’19

August 17, 2018: Students, including Caitlin and Daniel, find policy change in The Almanac.

August 17, 2018: 6:25 p.m., Caitlin and Daniel send an email to Dr. Droz, Ms. Perrenoud, and Dr. Gibb.

August 19, 2018: Dr. Gibb sends an email addressing student response to dorm visitation policy changes, particularly regarding inappropriate comments on online student petition.

August 19, 2018: Caitlin and Daniel talk with class presidents to draft an address to classmates.

August 19, 2018: Caitlin and Daniel reply to Dr. Gibb for an explanation of policy change. At Dr. Gibb’s request, Caitlin, Daniel, class presidents brainstorm ways to address inappropriate comments by students.

August 20, 2018: Mrs. Perrenoud replies to 8/17 email from Caitlin & Daniel.

August 22, 2018: Class presidents send an email to respective classes addressing inappropriate comments and the policy change.

August 22, 2018: Dr. Gibb, Caitlin, Daniel and class presidents talk about ways to address inappropriate comments in order to move forward.

August 27, 2018: Mrs. Perrenoud sends an email explaining the philosophy behind the approach, explanation of the process and policy.

August 28, 2018: At Dr. Gibb’s request, school presidents draft an apology letter.

August 30, 2018: Caitlin and Daniel forward Mrs. Perrenoud’s email to all students, at her request.

September 1, 2018: Caitlin and Daniel propose a second petition and start developing.

September 5, 2018: With approval from Dr. Gibb, the petition is sent out.

September 9, 2018: Petition gathers 400 signatures.

September 10, 2018: Caitlin and Daniel propose an open discussion to gather student opinions to present to administration.

September 12, 2018: Student discussions begin at fishbowl.

September 17, 2018: Dr. Gibb and Ms. Perrenoud speak at Stu-Fac.
