Boys and Girls Varsity Swimming and Diving placed third and fourth respectively in their Founders League Championships on February 21 and 24.

Founders League swimming events were held on February 24 at Hochkiss. All nine schools in the Founders League were allowed to enter as many swimmers as they wanted for each events. The fastest 16 swimmers for each event scored points, with each individual school allowed a maximum of four scoring swimmers.

Heading into the tournament, Boys Varsity Swimming Head Coach Keith Moon said, “We have a very small and young team this year, so our goal was not to get overwhelmed by some of the bigger teams.”

Girls Varsity Swimming Co-Captain Quisha Lee ’24 said, “Throughout this season, the team has not only undergone many hours of intense training and physical endurance work in the pool, but we have also been training our mental strength. We held the expectation that as long as we put our minds to it, our hard work will pay off.”

There were several notable placements and personal records for both girls and boys. On the boys’ side, Brayden Kavanagh ’25 placed second in the 500 yard freestyle. Oliver Johnson ’25, Kavanagh, Gavin Ho ’27, and Aidan Song ’27 together placed third in the 200 yard freestyle team relay.

This weekend, Boys Varsity Swimming finished 8th in the New England championships, avenging their loss to Loomis. Johnson and Kavanagh led the way with sub-5:00 500 meter Freestyle swims, placing both on the top ten in the school’s history.

Boys and Girls Varsity Diving competed in their Founders League Championship at Choate Rosemary Hall on February 21.

Each diver completed 11 dives. Each dive received five scores for each dive; the overall score was determined by dropping the highest and lowest scores and adding the middle three together. That score was then multiplied by the degree of difficulty of the dive, which ranges from 1.2 to 3.8.

After all eleven dives were completed, scores were tallied up to determine the winner. The team scoring worked the same as the swimming competition, with the top 16 divers earning points for their school.

Heading into the tournament, diving Head Coach Carita Gardiner said, “I was hoping for no incomplete or wrong dives, and for everyone to feel good about completing dives that had been hard or impossible for them earlier in the season.”

Several divers placed in the top 16 and scored points for the team. On the girls’ side, Maya Grogean ’26 placed eleventh, Clemmie Morlock ’26 placed sixth, and co-captain Tory Dana ’24 placed second. On the boys’ side, Skye Radtke ’25 placed fifth, George Axelrod ’25 placed third, and captain Nolan Jennings ’24 was crowned Founders League Champion.

Girls Varsity Diving Co-Captain Tory Dana said, “I expected this hard work to pay off, and it did. Each person on the team was very brave—they did things that were hard for them, although the pressure of the judges watching was high.”

The boys team finished the season with a 2-4 record. The girls finished with a 1-5 record.
