Bring Change to Mind

Bring Change to Mind, more commonly known as BC2M, is a non-profit, nation-wide high school organization.

Started by American actress Glenn Close, BC2M’s main goal is to end stigma around mental health.

Students established a BC2M chapter at the school several years ago, and since then, the club has worked to bring attention to mental health issues in the community.

The club offers suicide prevention training and has advocated for students to have more access to counseling on campus. It has expanded its goals to include more QPR (question, persuade, refer) informed training for proctors, orientation leaders and varsity captains.

Grace Beatty ’24, a co-head of BC2M, plans to continue the club’s tradition of hosting BC2M Week in late February. She would like the week’s programming to include other student organizations and local prep schools. Beatty said, “Our message is to destigmatize the mental health struggles students experience.”

Throughout the year, board members lead meetings to address topics like self-harm, self-esteem, and other mental health issues. Beatty said, “We’re really trying to change the way students react to social anxiety and fear of missing out.”

Beatty says students can support BC2M by talking openly about  mental health struggles.

Most importantly, Beatty encourages Bearcats to be there for their friends and support them through tough times.
