After being ranked 2nd in the Shakeschool ’22 showcase, Ellie Traggio ’22 was named to the US Select U18 Lacrosse team to play alongside 21 of the nation’s top high school girls lacrosse players. The players were selected out of 160 candidates during a national combine in August at the US Lacrosse headquarters in Sparks, Maryland.

Traggio joined teammate Avery Doran ’24, who was selected to represent the Haudenosaunee Nationals U16 team, at an international competition featuring teams from the US, Canada, and the Iroquois Nation on October 19-20. Doran’s Haudenosaunee team was making its debut appearance at the tournament. After two days of round-robin play, the US Select girls’ U-18 team was undefeated in four games against Team Ontario and the Haudenosaunee Nationals. Traggio commented, “It was such an incredible experience! I loved meeting new people, and playing with such talented girls definitely made me a better player.”

Traggio plans to continue her athletic career at the collegiate level at UNC. Outside of lacrosse, she plays on the Girls Varsity Soccer and Girls Varsity Hockey teams. Doran is also a member of the Girls Varsity Field Hockey and Girls Varsity Hockey teams.
