A Time for Thanks

This upcoming break, many of the American readers of this paper will make their way back to their families in order to celebrate Thanksgiving. Hopefully, though, most of you think you have some kind of family right here at Hotchkiss. In the spirit of the holidays, we at The Record want to express our gratitude to the members of our Hotchkiss family for everything they do, and we urge you all to do the same.
On any given issue, around 35 writers, editors, cartoonists, and pho- tographers collaborate with one another. Even with this sizable team, we understand that working on the paper is a significant responsibility. We ask a lot of the people who work to create The Record. They sacrifice a great deal of time and effort to make this paper possible. We hope that every contributor, major or minor, frequent or sporadic, accepts our thanks for the hard work they do.
Spending so many hours in contact with one another creates an undeniable bond that unites us. The teamwork demanded by the nature of our work forces us to rely on one another. Family is often forged in unexpected circumstances, and complete strangers can become close by chance. We know, because it happened to us, and we are seeing it happen to you newer editors as well.
We’d also like to thank you, dear reader, for taking the time to open this paper and appreciate the product of your peers’ dedication. In the busy rush of Hotchkiss life, it’s easy to ignore what’s right in front of you. We’re happy you gave us your time, which we understand is a precious commodity.
Finally, we implore you all to think about the members of the family that you have at Hotchkiss, blood relations or not, and how they have impacted you. With the semester winding to a close, now is the time to reflect and make clear to the people you care about that you appreciate them.
So, take this weeklong break to relax and de-stress, and nurture this spirit of gratitude. The Record Editorial Board wishes you all a happy Thanksgiving and a restful break.
