Varsity Athletics Preview
Cross Country
Boys and Girls Cross Country look ahead to the Canterbury Invitational meet this Saturday, where each team will face some of its stiffest competition. The girls look to improve on last year’s underwhelming showing of 10th out of a 12-team field, while the boys look to continue their success after placing second in the same size field last year.
Soccer
Boys Varsity Soccer will face off against Berkshire on Friday. Last year, the team fell 1-2 in a tight match at Berkshire. This time around, the team looks to jump into the season with a 2-0 start, following a big win last Saturday at Lawrenceville.
Girls Varsity Soccer faces a formidable opponent in Northfield Mount Hermon this Saturday. Coming off of a huge 2-0 win at Lawrenceville this past weekend, the girls look to keep the ball rolling.
Varsity Field Hockey
Last year, Varsity Field Hockey lost to Deerfield, marking the first time in five years it failed to defeat the Doors. It stood as the team’s sole regular season loss until the New England Championship. This Saturday, the team will face Deerfield at home, in what is sure to be one of its toughest games of the season.
Football
After a scrimmage at Berkshire this past weekend, Varsity Football looks to notch a win against Brunswick on Sprole Field. Last year’s matchup ended badly for the Bearcats, who lost to the Bruins, 41-7.
Volleyball
Varsity Volleyball travels to Northfield Mount Hermon this Saturday. Last year, NMH walked away with a close 3-2 victory. Volleyball will look to flip the script this year in what is sure to be another good game.
Water Polo
This Saturday, the team faces Loomis Chaffee at home in Hixon Pool. Last year’s games both ended in tough losses, but the team is prepared to bring the energy to notch its first win of the season.
