Proctor selection is conducted by the Dorm Heads Committee, but feedback from advisors, dorm faculty, and current proctors are an important part of the decision-making process. Class deans, the director of diversity and inclusion, dean of students, dean of community life, and head of school also participate in the discussions or review the applicants before proctorship offers are made. To begin the process, prospective proctors wrote applications answering questions which align with the six competencies required of a proctor: being a role model, demonstrating initiative, being trusted by and communicating well with peers and adults, being a good listener, and being inclusive. A slate of candidates was chosen by the committee, and candidates were then paired on teams that have complementary strengths and personalities. Mrs. Perrenoud expressed her wish that new proctors will help and support their proctees appropriately and communicate well with adults, to develop their leadership skills at Hotchkiss and beyond.
Proctor training will begin on August 28th.
